Toyon Research Corporation Opens Hypersonics Thermal Protection Systems’ Center of Excellence in Huntsville, Alabama

New Huntsville, Alabama location is Toyon Research Corporation’s Center of Excellence in hypersonic thermal protection systems and will serve its growing customer base in close proximity.

Huntsville, AL, January 4, 2021 – Toyon Research Corporation is proud to announce the opening of its fourth location nationwide and new Center of Excellence. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, the new location will allow Toyon an increased capacity to serve its growing customer base in the region.

The Huntsville location, officially opened in June 2020, is Toyon’s Center of Excellence for its work on Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for hypervelocity vehicles. The team provides material characterization for modeling and simulation of thermal protection systems, develops ablating and decomposing material models, and are experts in ground test and evaluation of TPS development.

 “Our ability to provide increased customer service was the driving force behind our latest location”, shared Josh Gudgen, head of management in the Huntsville location. “Our team is leading the industry in hypersonic aerothermodynamics and thermal protection systems. By opening an office in Huntsville, we can continue to expand the work we do and support our customers at the highest level.”

The new Huntsville team will be able to better service Toyon’s clients, the local engineering community including the US Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Center and Aviation & Missile Center, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, the Missile Defense Agency, the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, and local area Prime Aerospace contractors.

The new office, located at 1535 Perimeter Parkway Suite 515, Huntsville, Alabama, has a team of four full-time staff members. It provides a complement to Toyon’s additional locations in Santa Barbara, California, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Sterling, Virginia.
